Breast Revision Surgery

Be Happy With Your Results

There are many different reasons why women seek breast revision surgery in Milwaukee. Revision surgery can be used to correct any deformities that may have happened as a result of a prior procedure or as a primary procedure for those who have congenital breast abnormalities. Congenital breast abnormalities may include conditions such as tuberous breast deformity, breast asymmetry, the presence of inverted nipples, or excessively large areolas. Secondary surgery is done when a woman has already undergone a prior breast procedure, such as augmentation, mastopexy, breast reconstruction, or breast reduction. Breast revision is a highly technical procedure.

It is the satisfaction of meeting this high degree of challenge that led Dr. Bosbous to complete a breast plastic surgery fellowship with well-known and respected plastic surgeon Dr. Dennis Hammond. During this time he took part in a large caseload of revisionary surgery. Dr. Bosbous uses his eye for aesthetics, as well as knowledge of operative techniques, to help patients in the Milwaukee area in need of revisionary breast surgery achieve their goals.

Primary Breast Revision

Primary breast revision is for the correction of congenital abnormalities. Below is a list of these possible deformities and techniques Dr. Bosbous may include in your surgical plan. Remember that every case is individual, and everything will be customized to suit your personal needs.

Breast Asymmetry

Breast asymmetry is very common in women, but problems arise when it becomes a source of lowered self-image in patients. Asymmetry could be caused for a number of different reasons, so there are many techniques that may be used to correct the issue. Breast reduction, breast lift, breast augmentation, or a combination of these procedures may be performed on one or both of the breasts.

Tuberous Breast Deformity

Tuberous breast deformity happens when there is abnormal growth during breast development. When breasts grow within a “constricted” skin envelope at the base, often times the breasts appear narrower and tube-like, rather than typical round breasts with soft contours. Correction of this abnormality may take one or more procedures depending on the cause and severity of the case.

Inverted Nipples

Areola size (the dark pigmented skin surrounding the nipple) varies from person to person and breast to breast. Ultimately there is no perfect areola size, and stretching may happen as breasts grow and change. Depending on the cause of the enlarged areola the procedures to correct the deformity can vary from a simple outpatient procedure under local anesthesia to a breast reduction or breast lift. Dr. Bosbous will be able to identify the cause and develop a personalized surgical plan to fit your needs.

Secondary Breast Revision

There are several different reasons why a woman may seek out a secondary breast revision. A ruptured implant, desire to change implant variety, capsular contracture, or general unhappiness with a prior procedure often leads to secondary breast revision.

Ruptured Implant

Despite the newest generation of breast implants being the most durable and safest ever, breast implants will rupture on rare occasions. Following up with your plastic surgeon is the best way to identify this. If you do rupture an implant, your implant and possibly some scar tissue will need to be removed and be replaced with a new device.

Implant Exchange

Women who chose between a saline or silicone implant will sometimes change their mind and want to switch to the other. This is often times because of a rupture, or problems with the aesthetics, feel, or deflation of their original implant.

Capsular Contracture

When abnormal scar tissue forms around the breast implant, it can cause pain and deformity of the breast. Removing or releasing this scar tissue helps to reposition the implant which can improve the appearance of the breast and oftentimes reduces discomfort.

Unhappy Results

Despite the fact that cosmetic and reconstructive breast procedures are often successful, occasionally a patient will be unhappy with the symmetry, shape, or size following their procedure. Dr. Bosbous can evaluate every individual case and prepare a surgical plan to best correct the original results. Through his professionalism and attention to detail Dr. Bosbous strives to provide you with a positive and fulfilling revisionary surgery experience.

Regardless of the reason for requiring revisionary surgery, Dr. Bosbous takes great pride in working with his Milwaukee breast revision surgery patients to set realistic expectations, provide comprehensive surgical plans, and achieve the best possible results in a safe and thoughtful manner. Contact us to schedule your consultation with Dr. Bosbous today.
